Flooring Installation Guide

Thank you for choosing Discount Dave’s for your new flooring and installation. We strive to offer the best quality and most efficient service for our customers’ installation. In order to better serve you, we have compiled a list of answers to frequently asked questions you may have.

Preparing for your upcoming installation

In order for your new flooring to be installed properly, the existing materials may need to be removed. Unless your invoice or estimate includes this as a specific charge, this will need to be completed ahead of the scheduled installation date. All subfloors will need to be bare of any adhesive residue, nails, staples, or scraps of leftover materials.

Furniture and appliances need to be removed from the work area to install your flooring. This is not included in our standard pricing, but larger items can be added for an additional charge. Smaller items will need to be removed from the space ahead of the installation date. Please make sure that all closets and drawers have also been emptied. Large, fragile items such as pool tables, pianos, or aquariums and appliances which have been hardwired or connected to gas can be moved at the owner’s risk but should be moved by their respective professionals as our flooring installers are not equipped to handle such items.

The area being installed will need to be temperature controlled, have available electricity, and properly lit. Some products including hardwood, laminate, and vinyl plank will need to be delivered ahead of the installation so that they can acclimate to the conditions of the home.

Installation Day

When the installers arrive, please take a few minutes to walk them through the areas to be done and answer any questions they may have so that they can ensure that their services can properly be completed as was previously arranged by your sales associate. While we understand that you may not be able to be home during the entirety of the project, please be available to contact should complications in the installation process arise. With any construction or remodeling project, things occasionally do not go as planned.

The installation process itself is often loud, dirty, and potentially hazardous, so please avoid the work area and keep children or pets away until the installation is completed. As with any construction project complications can arise. Should unforeseen complications occur, you will be notified promptly with options to resolve the issue as well as an explanation of any additional work which may be needed and an adjusted timeline for completion.

After Installation

Upon completion, please take the time to walk through the project again with the installer to inspect the finished project and address any potential concerns or questions with the installer. If you have had wood, tile, or vinyl installed, please allow an additional 24 hours for the flooring to fully set or adhere before moving any furniture back into place. In addition, for all materials please maintain consistent temperatures in the space for at least 24 hours after completion. Due to the installation process, it is possible there will be scuffs on walls and trim, which will require you to touch up.

Soon following your installation, a member of Discount Dave’s staff will be in touch with you to ensure that the job has been completed satisfactorily and there are no issues, which need to be resolved.

All Discount Dave’s, installations are guaranteed for one year after completion of the installation. This guarantee will be null and void if issues with subflooring exist and were not addressed properly, flooring has been wet, product being installed is known to be damaged or defective, existing padding is used during the installation, flooring was not given the proper amount of time to adjust to recommended conditions, product has been soiled or damaged due to negligence, or the product has been temporarily removed from the area in which it was originally installed.
